We held our annual Christmas lunch again at the County Hotel, Newcastle, on Friday, December 1, 2017. The venue seems to suit our members very well, since it is opposite Newcastle Railway Station and easy to get to. After drinks in the bar, we repaired to the beautiful Strauss Room for a splendid three-course Christmas lunch, with wine. 25 members and guests attended, including one new member, John Jackson. The staff, as usual, were very attentive, and the cost, at £21, was very good value. The occasion went with a real swing. We played Christmas carols (King's College choir) from Spotify via my Anker, and Andrena and I gave a reading of Charles' Dicken's 'The Story of the Goblins Who Stole a Sexton', from 'The Pickwick Papers', chapter 29. We have booked up again for next year (Friday, December 7, 2018). Click photo thumbnails to enlarge.
